- Proof of income: W-2 forms, 1099, and/or bank statements

- Copy of a valid identification

- Proof of residence (utility bill)

- If married: marriage certificate, spouse's Social Security Number (SSN) or ITIN, and proof of income for this person

- If you have children: birth certificates, Social Security Number (SSN), and a letter from the school or doctor

- If you have dependents attending college: 1098-T form

- If you have a mortgage: 1098 form

- If you worked overtime: last pay stub of the year

- For self-employed individuals: list of expenses related to your occupation

- If you own real estate: list of expenses related to property maintenance

- If you obtained health insurance through the Marketplace: you must obtain the 1095-A form

- For individuals requiring an IP PIN (Identity Protection PIN): the IRS sends a letter each year with a new PIN; you must take it to the accountant

- For retirees: SSA-1099 form

- Bank account information (routing number and account number) for direct deposit of your refund or for debit payments of the balance owed.
